Pajero of the Month

Our Pajero of the Month spotlight — celebrating standout Mitsubishi Pajero builds from the South African community. See past winners and how to enter.

Pajero of the Month is our monthly community spotlight, celebrating one standout Mitsubishi Pajero build from the South African owner scene. Every month we put a single featured Pajero front and centre — a daily-driven NM, a body-on-frame 4M40 workhorse, a tidy 3.2 Di-D overlander, or a budget build that punches well above its rand. It is a way to recognise the people who keep these trucks going, share practical build ideas, and give the wider SA Pajero community something to aspire to.

This page explains how the spotlight works, how to enter, what we look for, and where to find recent features. It is open to every generation and budget — from a clean stock 3.0 V6 to a kitted-out long-wheelbase tourer.

How Pajero of the Month works

Each month we select one featured Pajero from member submissions and publish a short profile of the truck and its owner. The aim is not to crown the most expensive build — it is to highlight Pajeros that are interesting, well sorted, and useful to other owners thinking about their own projects.

  • Members submit their Pajero with photos and a short write-up of the build and how it is used.
  • We shortlist submissions through the month and choose one to feature.
  • The featured owner answers a few questions about the truck — engine, mods, trails, and lessons learned.
  • The profile is published and shared with the community, and the truck joins our recent features list.

How to enter your Pajero

Entering is free and open to all members. You do not need a show-quality build — an honest, well-maintained daily Pajero is just as welcome as a full overland rig. To give your featured Pajero owner spotlight the best chance, send through the following:

  • Clear photos: a few exterior shots, the engine bay, the interior, and any standout detail or mod.
  • The basics: generation, year, engine (for example 4D56 2.5TD, 4M40 2.8TD, 4M41 3.2 Di-D, 6G72 3.0 V6 or 6G74 3.5 V6), and gearbox.
  • The story: how you use it, the trails it has seen, and what you have changed or fixed.
  • Your region: so we can balance features across the country, from the Cape to KZN and the Highveld.

Submissions are made through the community. If you are not yet a member, join the SA Pajero community first — it takes a minute and unlocks submissions, the build threads, and the Pajero convoy and events calendar where many featured trucks first get noticed.

What the judges look for

We are looking for character and competence, not just spend. A thoughtfully sorted truck with a good story will beat a parts-catalogue build every time. Here is roughly how we weigh a submission for best Pajero build SA honours.

What we look atWhat earns a feature
Condition & upkeepHonest, well-maintained, mechanically sound — addressed known weak points rather than hidden them
Purpose & usabilityThe build suits how the truck is actually used, whether daily, towing or overlanding
Smart modificationsSensible, well-executed mods over flashy ones; good wiring, recovery points and load setups
Story & community spiritA genuine owner who shares knowledge and helps others on the trail
PhotosClear, well-lit images that show the truck and its details properly

The best featured Pajeros are the ones other owners learn from — a clever fix, a clean fault solved, or a build worth copying.

If your truck has had a known niggle put right — a 4D56 timing belt done on schedule, a 4M41 fixed properly — say so. We value owners who have read up on Pajero common problems by generation and tackled them head-on, and buyers who used the Used Pajero Buying Guide and its 20-point inspection to pick a sound truck in the first place.

Recent features

Recently featured Pajeros are collected here so you can browse past profiles — the builds, the engines and the owners behind them. This section fills up as features are published, so check back for the latest standout trucks from across South Africa. We would rather show real, verified community builds than placeholder entries, so the list reflects genuine features only.
