Last updated: 22 June 2026. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Mitsubishi Pajero 4×4 Lifestyle (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, why we collect it, and your rights under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This is an independent enthusiast community and is not affiliated with, or an official channel of, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.
Who We Are
Mitsubishi Pajero 4×4 Lifestyle is a South African Pajero owners’ community operating at mitsubishipajero4x4life.com. For any privacy matter — including requests to access, correct or delete your information — you can reach our Information Officer at hello@mitsubishipajero4x4life.compajero4x4life.com.
What We Collect
We aim to collect as little personal information as possible. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:
- Email address — when you join our launch / “notify me” list, subscribe to the Trail Brief newsletter, or sign up for free membership, so we can contact you.
- Technical data when you submit a form — your IP address, an approximate location (city, region and country derived from that IP address), your browser type (user-agent), and which form or page the submission came from. We use this to prevent spam and abuse and to understand roughly where our community is based.
- Content you choose to share — for example, details and photos you send us for the “Pajero of the Month” feature or community submissions.
- Standard server and analytics data — like most websites, our hosting and any analytics tools may record basic visit information such as pages viewed, referring site, and approximate location.
We do not collect payment card details on this site, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.
Why We Collect It (Lawful Basis)
Under POPIA we only process your personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so. We rely on:
- Your consent — for example, when you give us your email address to be notified about the Gen 5 Pajero launch or to receive our newsletter. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
- Our legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and understand our audience. We log technical data such as IP address and approximate location for this purpose.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal information, and we never trade or rent your email address. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site, including:
- Our web host — which stores the site and its data on our behalf.
- An IP geolocation provider (ipwho.is) — when you submit a form, your IP address is sent to this service so we can record an approximate location. They process the IP address only to return that location.
- Email and analytics tools — if and when we use them to send you the emails you asked for or to measure site usage.
Some of these providers may process data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive a comparable level of protection, as required by POPIA.
Cookies
This site uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality (such as keeping the site running and secure) and, where applicable, for analytics. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Launch and newsletter sign-up details are kept until you ask to be removed or unsubscribe. Technical logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised.
How We Protect It
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard the limited data we hold.
Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it;
- Ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate;
- Ask us to delete your information or unsubscribe you from our lists;
- Object to our processing of your information; and
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@mitsubishipajero4x4life.compajero4x4life.com and we will respond as soon as reasonably possible. You can also contact the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
